Somerset Medical Center terminated its contract with CIGNA HealthCare of New Jersey effective Jan. 4, 2010. We are disappointed that we could not resolve the fundamental issues that would have resulted in a new Participating Hospital Agreement with CIGNA.
It is our sincere hope that CIGNA will continue to consider SMC’s request for fair reimbursement rates so that SMC can, once again, participate in the CIGNA network.
You may continue to use Somerset Medical Center for emergency and elective medical services. If you have an emergency and require treatment or need to be admitted due to an emergency, CIGNA is required by law to cover these services.
