Sanofi-aventis U.S. Breast Care Program

One out of every seven women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. It is the second most common form of cancer in women after skin cancer and the second most deadly cancer in women after lung cancer. All women are at risk, but women over 40 and those with a family history of breast cancer have an even greater chance of developing the disease.

The Sanofi-aventis U.S. Breast Care Program at The Steeplechase Cancer Center at Somerset Medical Center is dedicated to breast cancer prevention and early detection, giving women the best chance for successful treatment and potential cure.

The program, located on the third floor of the cancer center, offers comprehensive, personalized breast health services from routine screenings to complex diagnostic procedures and treatment evaluations. From warm, terrycloth robes to private waiting areas, the Breast Care Program is specially designed to ensure comfort and privacy for our patients.

The program's expert staff has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, performing more screenings, diagnostic mammograms and breast biopsies than most other breast care centers in the state. The program has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology and it meets the Food and Drug Administration's strict standards.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 908-704-3740. Insurance companies often require a medical referral; your primary care physician or insurance provider can determine whether one is necessary. A prescription from the referring physician is required.

Free mammograms are available for women who are living on a limited income or who are uninsured or underinsured. Funding is provided through a grant from the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection Program.
