Date   10/14/2003
Article

At the first sign of memory loss, many seniors fear the worst: Alzheimers. But there may be other causes for forgetfulness that may be treatable, such as depression, stress and medication side effects.

To help people learn more about Alzheimers disease and other causes of memory loss, Somerset Medical Center and the Geriatric Health Alliance will present Forgetfulness: Its Not Just Alzheimers Disease on Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Somerville Elks.

Eileen Doremus of the Greater New Jersey Chapter of the Alzheimers Association will provide an overview of memory loss and explain the difference between age-related memory loss and Alzheimers disease. John Greenberg, MD, a neurologist at Somerset Medical Center, will discuss the signs and symptoms of the disease and activities to keep the mind sharp.

The program is offered free of charge. Pre-registration is required by calling (908) 595-2345 or by registering online at somersetmedicalcenter.com.
