Somerset Medical Center's Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) recently marked its 20th anniversary. The unit made its debut on August 25, 1982 as an 'emergency room on wheels,' responding to the scene of car accidents, heart attacks, farm mishaps and other life-threatening illnesses.

Today, the medical center's two MICUs respond to more than 6,000 requests for service annually, providing advanced life support services to residents throughout Central New Jersey.
