Everyone gets a little bit more forgetful as they age. But in some cases, it is more than just a minor inconvenience it is a sign of a more serious illness. One in ten people over the age of 65 suffers from Alzheimers disease. Half of those over the age of 85 have been diagnosed with this fatal brain disorder.
To help you identify the warning signs of the disease and learn more about its progression, Somerset Medical Centers Senior Advantage in Life (SAIL) Program will present Understanding Behaviors of Alzheimers Disease on Wednesday, September 25 from 10 to 11 a.m. in the medical centers Fuld Auditorium.
The free event will include a presentation by Igor Gefter, MD, a psychiatrist with Somerset Medical Centers Behavioral Health Services, and a performance by the Magic Mirror Players, a group of volunteer actors who help you recognize Alzheimers behaviors through interactive dramatic presentations and role playing. A question and answer session will follow the presentations.
Pre-registration is required by calling (908) 595-2345 or by registering online at somersetmedicalcenter.com.
